    London’s best new restaurant openings in 2017

    Red Rooster
    Marcus Samuelsson’s acclaimed Harlem restaurant is opening in the new Curtain Hotel in Shoreditch. The American original has welcomed President Obama and Sir Paul McCartney through its doors, and this London version, which will open in the summer, is looking to attract the same celebrity buzz.     French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten is opening a relaxed ‘neighbourhood-style’ restaurant at the Connuaght this spring. This new eatery from the winner of numerous Michelin stars will serve up breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as afternoon tea. Visit www.the-connaught.co.uk

    Bleecker Street
    The burger craze still has some life in it as street food favourite Bleecker Street takes up residence in its first permanent indoor home. Speciailities include a burger with black pudding and angry fries (chips with hot sauce and blue cheese). The restaurant in Victoria Street is scheduled to open this month.     Claude Bosi at Bibendum
    Chef Claude Bosi, who recently closed two Michelin-starred Hibiscus, is collaborating with Sir Terence Conran on this new chapter for Bibendum. The existing oyster and seafood bar is open for business as usual with a fine dining restaurant opening upstairs at the Mayfair restaurant in the spring. Visit www.bibendum.co.uk

    Almeida relaunch
    After 15 successful years in Islington, the Almeida is relaunching itself as an Italian restaurant with the brilliant Francesco Mazzei in charge of the kitchen.     Monty’s Deli
    After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Monty’s Deli is moving into a permanent spot in Hoxton Street. Jewish comfort food par excellence – with salt beef, reubens, latke and chicken soup all taking pride of place on the menu. Scheduled to open in April. Visit www.montys-deli.com

    The as yet unnamed restaurant from Smyth, the first female chef in Britain to hold three Michelin stars (which she was awarded while working as chef patron at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea’s Royal Hospital Road) will open in Notting Hill this summer. The 60-seater restaurant is in Kensington Park Road near Portobello market.

    Kricket
    Brixton favourite, Kricket, that serves up small plates of adventurous Indian grub, has just opened its second branch in Soho. The Brixton site could only fit 20 diners into its shipping container home, but the new restaurant seats 70 people across two floors. Visit www.kricket.co.uk
