    Land of Mine (15)

    Nominated for the best film in a foreign language award at the Oscars earlier this year, Land of Mine tells the story of a group of young German prisoners of war in post-World War Two Denmark who are forced to clear a beach of thousands of land mines. Released on August 4

    Atomic Blonde (15)

    Charlize Theron plays the ass-kicking action hero in this story of an undercover MI6 agent sent to Berlin during the Cold War to investigate the murder of a fellow agent. The film, directed by David Leitch, is based on 2015 graphic novel, The Coldest City. Released on August 9

    A Ghost Story (12A)

    A strange indie offering from director David Lowery. Casey Affleck, last seen in the astonishing Manchester by the Sea, stars as C, who is killed in a car accident outside his home. He returns to haunt the house where his wife, played by Rooney Mara, continues to lives, wearing the traditional ghost’s uniform of white sheet with holes cut out for eyes. Released on August 11

    Pawn Sacrifice (12A)

    Chess is given the Rocky treatment in this film that brings to life the famous 1972 World Chess Championship match between Bobby Fischer versus Bobby Spassky. Tobey Maguire plays the volatile Fischer with his Soviet opponent portrayed by the always brilliant Liev Schreiber. Released on August 11.

    Detroit (15)

    A dramatisation of the Detroit Riot of 1967 brings Katheryn Bigelow, Oscar-winning director of The Hurt Locker, together with British leading man, John Boyega, who also stars in the next episode of the Star Wars saga, The Last Jedi, which will be released later this year. Released on August 25.

    Logan Lucky (15)

    Steven Soderbergh has brought together a stellar cast, including Daniel Craig, Hilary Swank, Adam Driver and Channing Tatum, for this gonzo caper about two brothers attempting to pull off a heist during a Nascar race. Released August 25.
