This huge retrospective at Tate Britain explores David Hockney’s work in painting, drawing, photography and video. As he approaches his 80th birthday, the show will look at the entire span of Hockey’s career to date tracing his development from his landmark work of the 1960s and 70s right up to his most recent creations. ‘It has been a pleasure to revisit works I made decades ago, including some of my earliest paintings. Many of them seem like old friends to me now. We’re looking back over a lifetime with this exhibition, and I hope, like me, people will enjoy seeing how the roots of my new and recent work can be seen in the developments over the years,’ Hockney said. The show has been put together in collaboration with the Centre Pompidou and The Metropolitan Museum, and will be shown in Paris and New York once it closes at the Tate.
