Alan Yentob finds there’s no rest for the wicked at the BBC

    12 February 2016

The Italian Riviera came to Notting Hill this week for the launch of Chucs, the clothing boutique which doubles up as a restaurant. W11 locals Jeremy Clarkson and Alan Yentob attended the bash, where they were served champagne and negronis. While restaurateurs Richard Caring and Jeremy King arrived to check out the competition, Clarkson made the most of the refreshments on offer despite having to commence filming for his new Amazon Prime car show the next day.

As for the other former BBC heavyweight at the party, Yentob was sun-kissed having just got back from Hay Festival in Cartagena de Indias. Having quit his £183,300 per year creative director role at the BBC following the Kids Company scandal, how is he finding his lightened workload? ‘I’m still very involved even though I have officially stepped down from that role, there is still a lot I need to do,’ Yentob told Miss Steerpike over a martini. Happily, Yentob is also being kept busy with his role presenting Imagine — on an estimated annual salary of £150,000: ‘We’ve got plans to do a lot more episodes of Imagine‘.
