The Ferryman was the big winner at the star-studded ceremony

On Sunday night the Evening Standard Theatre Awards took place at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, with The Ferryman, Jez Butterworth’s rural family drama that unfolds in the shadow of the Troubles, winning prizes in three categories, including best play and best director for Sam Mendes. Andrew Garfield won the best actor prize for his performance in Angels in America at the National Theatre and Glenda Jackson won the best actress gong for her acclaimed King Lear at the Old Vic. Both were on hand to collect their awards, while Evening Standard editor George Osborne, Keira Knightley and Cate Blanchett were also in attendance. Here’s a selection of pictures of the stars arriving at the ceremony.
