An exhibition of new work at the Serpentine Gallery

An exhibition of new work by Grayson Perry, which opens at the Serpentine on June 8, is called, The Most Popular Art Exhibition Ever! – a tongue in cheek title derived from the show’s central focus on how contemporary art speaks to society at large. As Perry, the 2003 Turner Prize winner, puts it, he ‘wants to communicate to as wide an audience as possible’. He adds: ‘The new works I am making all have ideas about popularity hovering around them. What kind of art do people like? What subjects? Why do people like going to art galleries these days?’ The exhibition, which features ceramics, bronzes, prints and and tapestries, runs until September 10.
