Mel Brooks received the Bafta Fellowship, while La La Land picked up five awards

As expected, La La Land took the starring role at last night’s Bafta Film Awards, winning five gongs, including best picture, best director for Damien Chazelle and best actress for Emma Stone. Ken Loach’s I, Daniel Blake won the Bafta for outstanding British film, while British actor Dev Patel was named best supporting actor for his performance in Lion. Manchester by the Sea star Casey Affleck won the award for best actor, with the best supporting actress prize going to Viola Davis for Fences. The ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall concluded with legendary US filmmaker and comedian Mel Brooks receiving the Bafta Fellowship from Prince William, who attended the ceremony with the Duchess of Cambridge.
