Presenting a documentary about alcoholism hasn’t dampened Louis Theroux’s thirst; he arrived at the Fanpages party last night gagging for a drink. ‘I don’t drink on Mondays and Tuesdays,’ he told Miss Steerpike. ‘But today’s a Wednesday and I’m raring to go.’ Sadly for him, the Perrier-Jouët had just run out. Its copious flow earlier in the evening had whetted the appetite of several fans, though, who flocked to the TV star asking for photos. ‘He hates all of this fame stuff,’ Tom Hodgkinson – an old school-mate – told us. You’d never have known: Louis was the picture of charm. ‘I’m trying really hard not to rape him,’ one young actress sighed as he crossed her sightline.
Hostesses Bay Garnett and Kira Joliffe reprised the 90s aesthetic that they kick-started with their famous Cheap Date magazine. Edie Campbell nodded to grunge in a tracksuit – accessorised with a plastic water bottle. Bay and Kira’s new title is a scrapbook of collages made by various fans, including Bella Freud, Suki Waterhouse, Alexa Chung and Sophie Dahl. Artist Daisy de Villeneuve was keen to share what she’s an anti-fan of. ‘I hate junk culture,’ she told us adamantly. Meanwhile actor Joe Prospero (‘it’s my real name! I swear!’) chose to sing JFK’s praises. ‘He is such a magical figure,’ he said. ‘Plus, I’m a bit of a conspiracy theory dork. I definitely don’t believe the Warren Commission.’ From the silly to the serious… or should that be the other way around?
