While hacks turned on Nicola Sturgeon over the weekend over the SNP leader’s expensive taste in Hunter wellies as she visited flood victims in Scotland, over in Mayfair it was Savile Row suits that were being celebrated at the Prime Minister’s favourite watering hole.
Guests gathered at Mark’s Club — to which David Cameron recently received honorary membership — for the Savile Row Bespoke ‘Ambassador’s Project’ cocktail party as part of London Collections. Men’s fashion’s finest clothes-stallions joined Pierre Lagrange at the do in aid of British bespoke.
While guests including Dermot O’Leary, Tinie Tempah and Paul Sculfor sipped on champagne, Miss S caught up with Marks & Spencer model — and designer — David Gandy. After a week which saw a disappointing sales announcement for the brand and the subsequent departure of retail chief Marc Bolland, was Gandy feeling optimistic about the future?
‘It’s a big challenge and it always has been but we’re getting there and I’ve enjoyed working with Marc,’ he replied diplomatically. ‘His successor Steve Rowe knows the business inside out, he has been with M&S for 25 years so I’m looking forward to working with him.’
