Sir David Attenborough is dreaming of a green Christmas

Sir David was on hand at the Aqua Shard to unveil a 3D-printed Christmas ‘tree’

With the festive season now upon us, Miss Steerpike headed to the Aqua Shard on Wednesday night for the unveiling of a Christmas installation of the green variety. At the party hosted by Sir David Attenborough — and Timothy Hatton Architects — guests were invited to marvel at ‘Human Nature’ — an eco-friendly 3D-printed Christmas ‘tree’, in aid of Fauna and Flora International.

‘It brings a marvellous feeling of the natural world into this environment of steel and glass,’ Attenborough told guests at the top of the Shard. Turning his attention to the elephant in the room, the BBC presenter alluded to the potential environmental challenges facing the world now Donald Trump is president-elect. With the BBC presenter previously suggesting ‘we could shoot’ Trump, he told guests that it was clear conservationist organisations, like Fauna and Flora were now more important than ever; ‘I think you might agree with me that these days the world needs organisations like this.’

After the event Miss S caught up with Sir James Dyson who was feeling rather positive about Brexit. ‘There’s a whole world of opportunity out there,’ he explained to Miss S. ‘Europe is a part of that too though’.

Here are a selection of photos from the event:
